A museum near camping Les Ourmes

In Hourtin, near our Les Ourmes campsite, the Regards sur le Passé museum takes you on a journey through the geographical, historical and sociological evolution of the commune. Through a wealth of photographic documents and videos, you’ll find out more about this little piece of terroir.

Cultural visits in Médoc Atlantique

If you want to know what to do in Hourtin when it rains, look no further than the cultural visits. In the Médoc Atlantique region, you’ll discover numerous museums that immerse you in the Médoc tradition. Among the must-haves? The Cordouan lighthouse is one of the Gironde ‘s must-see lighthouses. At the top, you’ll discover a whole gallery to help you locate the surrounding monuments and tourist sites.

In Lacanau, head for the Musée de la mémoire Canaulaise. This museum offers an escape into a thematic collection of local heritage. You’ll discover ancient trades and transport, as well as the local history of the town, villages and seaside resort.

Leisure activities in Hourtin

If the weather doesn’t cooperate during your camping vacation, you can still enjoy a wide range of relaxing activities at Hourtin. One of Gironde’s must-sees is the spa , with a delicious dose of well-being in the sauna or jacuzzi. In Lacanau, you’ll find a wide range of institutes offering treatments in natural Chinese medicine, naturopathy or traditional Indian massages. Some even feature a beauty salon for a little coquetry.

When it rains in Hourtin, you can also set sail from the Cinéma Lou Hapchot, close to our Les Ourmes campsite. Fans of the seventh art will find an eclectic program to suit all tastes and ages. Special sessions are regularly offered, including recreational sessions, opera sessions and Cap Monde sessions. And if you’re looking for a particular film, you can also visit the Escoure cinema in Lacanau or the Océanic cinema in Soulac-Sur-Mer.

Finally, when it rains on the Atlantic coast, you can also try your luck at the casino. Slot machines, roulette wheels, poker tables and black jack, it’s a unique opportunity to have fun with friends. The Soulac-Sur-Mer casino, with its 50 slot machines, is just one of the places to visit. Alternatively, you can visit the Lacanau casino, right next to the ocean.

Indoor activities with friends and family

Come rain or shine in Hourtin, you can also enjoy indoor activities with friends and family. Joëlle Kem Lika’s studio opens its doors for you to start painting. Acrylics on canvas, paper, watercolors, Indian or colored ink… You’ll need to let go of all your worries to get in touch with nature.

At La Rose Pauillac winery, you’ll meet Aquitaine’s leading cooperative winery. Located in Pauillac, it has been an institution for several generations. This 23-hectare estate brings together tiny parcels for a timeless journey. From April to September, you can immerse yourself in an immersive, educational tour for all ages. The winery unveils its history and know-how through videos for an afternoon of discovery.

As for the indoor laser game, head for Lacanau. With 350 m² of play space, you can plunge into a labyrinth on your own or as part of a team. Accessible from the age of 4, it’s a concept that’s still all the rage for a good laugh.
